WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
July 10th, 2026
Town of Charlotte
To: Amy McDonald, a resident of the Town of Charlotte, County of Washington, State of Maine,
Greetings:
In the name of the State of Maine you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Charlotte, qualified by law to vote in Town Affairs, to assemble at the Charlotte Elementary School on Friday, the 10th day of July, A.D. 2026 at six o’clock in the evening (July 10th, at 6:00 p.m.) to act on the following Articles:
ARTICLE 1 To choose a Moderator to preside at said Meeting.
ARTICLE 2 To see if the Town will raise and appropriate $45,000 for the revaluation of the Town of Charlotte.
Explanation: The Town’s valuation is currently lower than 70% of the State’s valuation, which reduces the Homestead exemption as well as Revenue Sharing. The hope is to get to 100% of the State’s valuation of the Town as well as bringing individual property tax records current. SELECT BOARD RECOMMENDS: $45,000.00
ARTICLE 3 To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Select Board, on behalf of the Town, to sell, lease, or otherwise dispose of the former Charlotte Elementary School, located at 1006 Ayers Junction Road, Charlotte, Maine and identified as Lot 8, Map 8 on the Town of Charlotte tax map, on such terms and conditions as they deem to be in the best interest of the Town, and to execute any and all municipal deeds or other necessary documents to complete the transaction.
SELECT BOARD RECOMMENDS A “YES” VOTE
Hereof fail not to make due return of this Warrant and your doings to the Clerk of this Town on or before July 3rd, 2026, seven days prior to the Town Meeting, July 10th, 2026.
